Minecraft block palettes
Six blocks each, with a job for every block, a size and three rules to build to. Open any of them in Blockroll to keep the blocks and roll new rules, or roll a palette of your own.
Cherry cottagePale calcite walls let the pink cherry roof carry the colour, and dark cherry logs keep the corners crisp. Built for a small house in a cherry grove.Desert outpostSmooth sandstone for calm walls, acacia posts and a red sandstone roof for contrast, and glazed terracotta as the one patterned block. Flat roofs and open sides suit the heat.Nether fortressDark nether bricks between grey basalt pillars, with red nether brick roofs. Shroomlight is the light source, so the build glows without a torch in sight.Snowy cabinSpruce planks and logs read warm against snow, and a deepslate tile roof stays dark enough to see from far away. Cobblestone for the chimney and the base.Deepslate keepA dark stone castle that still has depth: lighter tuff brick pillars against deepslate brick walls, a dark oak roof, and glowstone set into the walls instead of torches.Mangrove swamp hutMud brick walls held up by dark mangrove logs on stilts, under a red mangrove roof. Muddy roots make a good trim where the hut meets the water.Copper workshopGrey tuff walls and dark oak beams as a quiet base, with a weathered copper roof and fresh copper trim. The copper keeps ageing in survival, which suits a workshop.Pale garden manorPale oak planks with grey pale oak log pillars, a dark tile roof and a single orange note from resin bricks. Looks right in a pale garden or on a foggy hill.Japanese tea houseOff-white mushroom stem walls between dark beams, a grey tile roof with wide eaves, and a bamboo mosaic floor. Cherry leaves are the only colour.Medieval tavernTimber framing: light plaster walls between dark oak logs, a spruce roof and a cobblestone base. Barrels by the door tell people what the building is.Coastal lighthouseA tall white tower with red bands, a dark prismarine cap and a sea lantern at the top. Stone bricks at the base hold it to the rocks.Mushroom houseA stem-white house under a red cap. Red mushroom blocks shape the cap, red nether brick stairs smooth its edges, and shroomlight lights it from inside.End city towerPale end stone bricks with purpur pillars and a purpur roof, close to what the game itself builds in the End. Obsidian gives the eye somewhere dark to rest.Jungle treehouseJungle planks and logs that blend into the trees around them, a dark oak roof that shows through the leaves, and bamboo for railings and trim.Modern beach houseFlat white concrete, light grey frames and big light blue windows. Oak trim and a birch floor keep it from feeling cold.Overgrown ruinMossy stone bricks and old dark oak beams for a building the forest has started to take back. Cracked bricks, moss and an uneven roof finish the look.Crimson forest houseCrimson planks between white quartz pillars, the strongest contrast the Nether has, under a near-black nether brick roof. Stripped crimson stems trim the doors, and shroomlight from the same forest lights it.Warped forest outpostTeal warped planks held in a frame of polished blackstone, with a blackstone brick roof. Stripped warped stems are the bright trim, and warped wart blocks hang off it like the forest outside.Blackstone bastionPolished blackstone bricks with lighter basalt pillars, the blocks a bastion is made of. Magma blocks glow along the base, and a few gilded blackstone blocks are the only gold.Black and white modern houseWhite concrete with thin black concrete frames and a polished deepslate roof. Spruce cladding on one side adds warmth, and grey glass keeps the windows from looking like bright holes.Modern tuff houseGrey-green polished tuff with sharp quartz edges, a dark deepslate roof, and oak for the floor and cladding. Tuff is easy to mine in bulk and polished tuff has stairs, slabs and walls.Fishing hutPale birch boards with dark spruce posts, a spruce roof and an oak dock. Cyan terracotta looks like faded paint on the trim, and dried kelp blocks are piled by the door.Seaside cottagePale oak planks read like painted boards, with spruce corners and a slate-grey cobbled deepslate roof. Faded blue terracotta frames the door and shutters, and azalea hedges sit along the walls.Japanese castleWhite calcite walls on a sloped stone brick base, dark oak beams, and stacked deepslate tile roofs with wide eaves. Pruned spruce trees around it are the only green.Shinto shrineRed stripped mangrove posts against pale terracotta walls, under a dark oak roof. A gravel path, mossy stone brick steps and one cherry tree finish it.Red barnBarn-red terracotta with white stripped pale oak trim at the corners and around the big doors, a dark oak roof and a cobblestone footing. Hay bales are the only detail it needs.Wizard towerA white calcite tower with polished deepslate edges and a pointed roof of teal warped planks. Purple terracotta bands and purple glass in the narrow windows set it apart from a church tower.Dark oak manorDark oak walls between stone brick pillars, under a steep deepslate brick roof that is a shade lighter than the walls. A birch floor keeps the inside from being too dark, bookshelves line the walls and red glass colours the light.Blacksmith forgeStone brick walls with spruce posts and a dark oak roof, and brick for the chimney and the forge. A magma block in the forge gives the glow without a fire to keep lit.Mediterranean villaWhite concrete walls, dark oak beams and a brick roof that reads like clay tiles. Terracotta floors, blue concrete shutters and flowering azalea over the doors.
